The City Laborer is responsible for delivering flat tires to the Central Repair Shop (CRS) & returning replacement tires to Staten Island facilities, picking up truck parts from CRS and delivering them to the Richmond Borough Office. He/she is required to pick up and wash flat truck and auto tires from all three (3) Staten Island garages and SI-01 Annex. He/she will be responsible for delivering and picking up mail from SI-01, SI-02, SI-03 and the SI-01 Annex to BCC Headquarters and other City facilities. The City Laborer is also on the list of employees approved to pick up the Borough paychecks every Thursday. He/she will assist in all facets of snow operations at SIBO and SI-02 which includes but is not limited to clearing sidewalks, commuting snow laborers and picking up plow parts. Additionally, the City Laborer will assist in all maintenance at Staten Island facilities which includes but is not limited to cutting weeds, cleaning facilities, storing cleaning tools and picking up supplies from DSNY Warehouse. Under immediate supervision, performs common unskilled laboring work requiring physical strength. Moves, lifts and carries items of various weights and sizes. May utilize hand or power-driven equipment in the performance of duties. Performs related work. The City Laborer is required to have a NYS Driver’s License as he/ she performs all these tasks while operating a Department pickup truck.
Minimum Qual Requirements
1. There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position.
2. There are certain medical and physical requirements.
License Requirements
Possession of a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York.

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
